Simhachalam in Visakhapatnam District


Simhachalam:

It is 16km away from Visakhapatnam town. It is a sacred place situated on hill (Simhachalam) belonging to 11AD. It is a famous one at the height of 244m from the sea level. Here the idol of Varahalakshmi  Narasimha swamy is enveloped by Sandal paste (chandanam) always. It is removed in the month of  Vysakhi  and this is called Chandanotsavam. Here is a Pole called


Kappastambham (frog’s pole) and it is believed to be satiate of wants and attain health, when one huggs it. The victorious poles installed by Srikrishndevaraya and stone inscriptions can be seen. There are a number of small to big waterfalls here. In total, the whole hill gives the impression of a lion in sitting manner.
