WORTH SEEING PLACES
Annavaram:
It is 80km away from Rajahmundry. It is one
of the greatest sacred holy places among its kind. On the hill named Ratnagiri there
are Gods, Goddesses like Veera Venkata Satynaryana swami, Ananta lakshmi and Satyadevi
are present, and these are the deities being received and praised by devotees.
The named hill is the staring point for Eastern Ghats. In front of the main
temple there is a SUN-DIAL is singnificancant in technology of olden days, a
meaningful seeing. Bhisma Ekadasi and Vykunta Ekadasi are very auspicious here.
Pithapuram-
kukkutaramam :
This is 15km away from Kakinada. There are Sakti
(a female deity, parvathi) temples like Kukkuteswara swami, Srikanthimadhava
swami, pithambika, kalakaarini etc are present. The Siva lingam (worshipped in
the form of phallus) is the self-existent being, of Siva. The siva lingam
contains two wings is noticeable and it is called ‘Paadagaya’ (foot of Gaya).
Samarlakota
:
It is 13km away from Kakinada. It is one
among pancharamas; Kumara swami installed SriKumara Rama Bhimeswara lingam in
the times of ChalikyaBheema.
Peddapuram:
Away from 4km to Samarlakota and it is famous
for Surynarayana swami (The Sun god). It was installed on the ‘Pandavula Metta’
(up ward place) and there is a saying that an under ground way to Rajahmundry
and it was used by the Pandavas at the time of their living incognito.
Korukonda
:
It is 20km away from to Rajahmundry and it is
a place of Siva and Vishnu. Here the idol of Sri Lakshminarasimha is a gentle
one. This temple was built in 1353 by Chalukyas. One is required to step 600
steps to see the idol.
Ryali
:
It is famous for tremendous talent for art
which is 35km away from Rajahmundry and on the way to Ravulapalem. An idol
of Jaganmohini Kesavaswami standing on
5ft sacred stone (salagrma stone) and one can observe the oozing of water from
feet of the idol. This stone depict from back Jaganmohini, which is a woman and
front portion portray the features of Vishnu and Siva temple is in front of it.
Here the Lord Siva is known to be
Sri Um-akamandaleswara swami.
Mandapalli
:
It is 4km away from kottapeta which is famous
for Saneeswara temple. It has a peculiarity that here the idol of Sani looks
like Lingam. In accordance with Puranas, the temple was constructed by deities.
Devotees are particular about Sanitrayodasi to have abhishekams to relieve from
problems venerated by Senihimself.
Palivela:
It is 3km away from Kottapeta and famous for
Siva lingam does have hair seems like bun. That is why the idol is called Sri
Uma koppu lingeswara swami.
Anthrvedi
:
Rajolu is about 25km away and it is famous
for LakshmiNarasimhaswami temple. Here the field’s ruler is Neelakanteswara
with tremendous beauty because of Nature is worth seeing.
Sarpavaram
:
It is 6km away from Kakinada and is famous
for Bhavanarayanaswamy temple the oldest. Narada gundam and Muktigandam are
present here.
Kotipalli
:
Someswar temple is a famous one and is 60km
away from Rajahmundry. Here the temple is famous for its lingam, Which is said
to be having its root at the infernal region (patalam). The alms offered here
will get ten million times yield (virtue) according to people and due to that,
it is called kotipali.
Drakshaaraam
:
13km away from Kotipalli towards the North otherwise
called ‘Dakshinkasi’ (Southern Benaras).
It is one among Pancharamas (five groves). Once it was Buddha’s grove become Siva’s
grove in the times of Vishnukundis. It had a lake in front of it and it was dug
by Saptarishis (7 hermits) and is called so ‘SaptaGodavari’ (Seven Godavari).
The Siva Lingam here is at about two floor feet height.
Dhavaleswaram
:
It is 3km away from Rajamundry and is
acclaimed by Agastyaswara temple placed at the foot of Dhavalagiri hill. The
available tunnel gives away to Kasi (Benarus) according to devotees. There are
footprints of Sita and Rama on the hill. It is especially famous for Cotton Barrage
and cotton Museum.
Mukteswaram
:
It is 12km away from Amalapuram and is famous
for Siva temple. One gets liberation as and when one seeks it and so is the
reason is called Mukteswaram.
Rajahmundry
:
It is on the National High way Calcutta to Madras,
which is very old historical city. It is situated on the banks of Godavari and
is famous for Kotilingeswar temple, Markandeya temple, Venugopala temple etc
and there are many small temples and Mathams (monastery). There are worth
seeing places like Gowthami Library, art gallery of Damerla, Sarangadhara Metta
and Road cum Rail Bridge. A Social reformer also a commercial place. It is the
birthplace of Kandukuri Veresalingam, a famous writer and a Second largest Road
cum Railway Bridge in Asia. And in Gowthami Ghat the newly Constructed “ISKON”
temple Sri Ranganadha Temple, Datta Temple, Amma Bhagwan temple, Gayatri
Temple, Ayyappa temple and Vyasasramam.
Aainavilli
:
It is a Famous temple of lord Vinayaka Who
fulfillis all the wants. It is 45 kms from Rajahmundry.
Bikkavolu:
There is a subhramanya
swamy temple famous for ‘Sashti’ festivals. It is 40 kms from Rajahmundry.

It is a forest place. Here mountains are adored with water falls are
nature’s gift to humankind. The Rampa revolt by Alluri Sitaramaraju started
here itself.
