Simhachalam:
It is 16km away from Visakhapatnam town. It is a
sacred place situated on hill (Simhachalam) belonging to 11AD. It is a famous
one at the height of 244m from the sea level. Here the idol of Varahalakshmi Narasimha swamy is enveloped by Sandal paste
(chandanam) always. It is removed in the month of Vysakhi
and this is called Chandanotsavam. Here is a Pole called
Kappastambham
(frog’s pole) and it is believed to be satiate of wants and attain health, when
one huggs it. The victorious poles installed by Srikrishndevaraya and stone
inscriptions can be seen. There are a number of small to big waterfalls here.
In total, the whole hill gives the impression of a lion in sitting manner.
Appiconda:
It
is 35 KM away from Visakhpatnam bearing a temple Someswara, which belongs to
11AD, is a famous visiting place.
Panchadarla:
It
is 35Km away from Anakapalli and is situated at the feet of “Phanigiri” the temple Dharmalingeswara is
a famous one. There are five perennial water outlets so it is called Panchdarla
and the temple is enriched with wonderful sculptures, belonging to East
Chalukyas of 13th AD

Arakuloya:
It
is 115km away from Visakhapatnam, spreading up to 35 square km and at the
height of 600 to 900 meters from the sea level. There are many people here,
belonging to tribal communities. The railroad to here from Visakhapatnam is
unforgettable one due to its journey among beautiful nature and prolonged
tunnels. This railway line is on top of the hills. Ranajalleda is a waterfall
to be seen. It is famous for a kind of dance “DIMSA”. Araku is said to be poor
man’s Ooty.
Bhimunipatnam:
It
is 30KM away from Visakhapatnam. Here there are age old Constructions, light house,
a port which belongs to 17th
century and the river ‘Gostani’ confluences in the sea here itself. Journey
from Visakhapatnam to Bhimili is a fine one. A good beach is placed here.
Sankaaram:
It
is a village 41KM away fromVisakhapatnam which is historically known to all,
consists Buddha pillars and idols.
Anakapalli:
It
is famous for jaggery and places 2nd in the nation. Jaggery is sold
1.60lakh tonnes every year.
‘Kanyakaparameswari’. ‘Nukalamma’
temples are famous here.
Krishnadevipeta:
Revolt
against the British by Alluri Sitaramaraju started here and his cremation place
is here.
Visakhapatnam:
It
is second biggest city after Hyderabad. It was named Waltair because of the
collector so named in British rule. There are many place to see are port,
Dolphins nose, light house (64KM area covers) Ramakrishna beach, Vuda park,
Kailasagiri, Zoo park, Kanakamahalakshmi
temple, circuit house, visakha steel plant etc.
