DISTSTRICT
This
is the third district in northern coast.
This
district lies in between 18 00’-17 50’
Northern latitudes and 87 29’-82. 35’ Eastern longitudes. The boundaries of
this district are Bay of Bengal in the East, East Godavari district in the South,
Orissa state in the West and North directions.
Visakhapatnam
is the district capital.
Once it was a fishermen village now it is a big corporation Once it had subhramanya swami temple on the beach and on the basis, it has become Visakhapatnam.
History :
Kings like Nandavamsa, Mauryas, and East Chalukyas
ruled this. After independence, it has become one of the big districts in
India. To make easier the administration it is separated from Srikakulam
district in the year 1950 and again in 1979 with drawing some parts of it the
district vizianagaram formed. During the reign of Mauryas the religions,
Buddhism and Jainism were mostly taken.
