EAST GODAVARI DISTRICT
This district lies in between 16 10’-17 50’ the North Latitudes and 80 29’-82 37’ East longitudes. The boundaries of East Godavari are Bay Bengal in the East and South, Khammam district in the West and Visakhapatnam district in the North directions.
History:
It is said to be a living place since pre stone age and this is conformed on the basic utensils available used by prehistoric men.
This was ruled over by many kingdoms like Chedi, Satavahana, Gupta. Vishnukundina, Chalukyas, Cholas, Kondaviti reddy, Gajapathis and krishnadevaraya.
In 1794 there two collectorates and in 1802 the district head quarters was Rajahmundry, in 1859 kakinada was the head quarteres.

Industries:
There are two fertilizer plants in Kakinada and in Rajahmundry Papermills, Electricity, Milk products, Jute, Engineering, Rice, Ginning, Porcelain and mould industries are present.
